As we have hundreds of stones at Instant Karma it is often difficult to pick one that is a favorite. However one of
the benefits of having a large collection is that on any given day you can pick the perfect one for that moment. This month chiastolite seems to jump out at me. Chiastolite, also known as andalusite, or cross stone is a stone with a natural symmetrical cross pattern. It is used for elemental magic, elemental power, memory, balancing, problem solving, and luck. It can be quite helpful during a state of change and it encourages the ability to see all aspects of a situation. It is helpful in the maintenance of spirituality during illness, strengthens the lower abdomen area, increase secretion of milk in nursing mothers, can be used to lessen fevers and balance blood flow. *This staff favorite has been selected by Fran 02.01.10.
Jewelry is one of the things that we are most passionate about at Instant Karma. It is a simple way for people to
bring beautiful art, color, stones, and fine metals into their daily lives. We pride ourselves on having not only a large selection of items, but also supporting independent U.S. artists who we have come to know not only as our suppliers, but as our friends. This month my favorite items in the store are created by a local artist under the label Serendipity. Her beaded necklaces are not only comfortable to wear, but are beautiful, one of a kind hand made creations. The top quality stones are not only chosen based on their appearance, but for their magical as well as healing properties. The necklaces are crafted with either pewter or sterling silver clasps and are available in a variety of lengths and styles. Necklace and Earring sets are also available. * The necklace pictured is made of garnet, carnelian, citrine, peridot, quartz, light amethyst and sterling silver. *This month's staff favorite has been selected by Leo 06.03.09.
Halloween holds a special place in our hearts at Instant Karma. Not only is it our favorite holiday, but it is the anniversary of the day that Fran and I took over the store in 2003. Since that day it has been our mission to fill our store with unique items, buying from independent artists whenever possible. For the past 2 years we have been delighted to include in our inventory a collection of beautiful hand-crafted leather masks. Not only are they a feast for the eyes, but they are unbelievably comfortable to wear. Each mask is meticulously hand sculpted and dyed in the U.S. by talented artist Morgan Hersey. The masks can be an addition to an already elaborate costume, or can be worn with a basic suit, dress, or robe for a quick and easy Halloween costume. Chakra Tuned Quartz Singing Bowls
Beautiful, fun, and unique, my favorite items this month are the Chakra tuned Quartz
crystal singing bowls. It is known that everything has its own vibration or energy, and this of course includes the human body. Each of these beautifully crafted bowls is designed to vibrate at a different chakra frequency allowing the chakra to resonate at the correct vibration, thus healing the part of the body and unblocking any problems that surround it. These bowls are probably one of the most powerful tools around for vibrational healing! You can actually feel the resonance radiate throughout your whole body and being. Quartz has been used for centuries for hundreds of different applications, but has been prized widely for it's healing and amplifying capabilities. When played, the sound of the Quartz Crystal bowls is entrancing and relaxing! Besides being useful for clearing and aligning the body, Chakra tuned Quartz crystal singing bowls make excellent tools for meditation. Lately, one of my favorite items in the store have been the beautiful Touchstones pendants. They are smooth gray stones (graywacke) with deeply carved Maori designs on them. Maori people are the indigenous people of New Zealand, they believe that there is a soul in all things both animate, and inanimate. Touchstones carry the soul of New Zealand, when you wear them you can feel the soft swirling energy of the ocean, the calming of the sand, and the energy of the sun, making them a really calming yet energizing addition to any jewelry collection. I have found also that you can use them as you would a worry stone. In times of stress, it is comforting to touch the stones, as they help to take away some of the stresses bringing you the grounding energy of the beaches where they are found. They make wonderful gifts for yourself or a friend, and can be worn by both men and women! Touchstones Pendants come hung on black cord, and each one comes in a fun triangular gift box with a card describing the meanings of the Maori symbols used. *Staff favorite has been selected by Fran 4-2-08.
Pacifica soy wax candles are a relatively new product at Karma, but they quickly became one of my favorite products in the store. Although we carry a nice selection of candles in various scents, and sizes I find that these high quality wonderfully scented candles are nicely priced, beautifully packaged and make perfect gifts. They are enclosed in glass and burn slowly so they last a very long time. The fragrances are strong but not overwhelming and because they are made of soy wax, which is a natural renewable resource, they are clean burning. Many scents are available but my favorite is the Thai Lemongrass - it is crisp and clean smelling, and always seems to brighten my day. *Staff favorite has been selected by Leo 1-16-08.
There are so many beautiful, and interesting things in the store, that it can be very difficult to pick just one thing. This month however, I think that my favorite item is Tibetan Quartz. This stone is said to hold sacred wisdom, and energy frequencies of the ancient cultures of the East. It is good for healing, meditation, relieving tension, clearing mental blocks, centering oneself, and protection. It is an excellent stone for intense work on mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. Personally, I find that holding one of these ethereal stones in times of stress has been extremely calming, I have also found that when a physical ailment arises, that placing the stone on the affected area can help relieve some of the pain, and discomfort. Because of the unique, and serene vibrations of these stones, I have added about 5 of these beauties to my personal stone collection in the past year. Currently we have many Tibetan Quartz at Karma in various sizes, and price ranges.
